The raw material batching station of our company has 8  constant weight  apron feeders, which are used for feeding two ATOX50 vertical mills. In order to reduce the feeding fluctuation, a plate feeder is installed in the upstream of each quantitative feeder, and the two devices are used in cooperation to achieve the purpose of accurate measurement. But after the equipment is put into operation, it often appears that the feeding mouth of the plate feeding machine is full of material resulting in the shut-down of the plate feeding machine. Cleaning by site personnel is time and effort wasting, and affects the normal feeding of raw mill. In order to ensure the stable operation of the plate feeding machine and the quantitative feeding machine, the new positions of the company are inspected here, and the abnormal situation is found in time to contact the central control room to suspend the plate feeding machine, and then restart it after empty, but it is still inevitable that there will be overflowing or broken material. Therefore, we designed a set of automatic overflow prevention device, transmitting the material blocking signal to DCS, through the program of automatic monitoring of the feeding situation in order to realize the automatic stop of the plate feeding machine when the feeding outlet overflow and it will automatically open after material clearance.

The device is composed of a limit switch, a regulating rod, a stranded support, a vertical rod, a spring, a wire rope and a steel disc. Stranded support is used to support the regulating rod and make the regulating rod rotate along the axis of rotation. In the normal operation of the equipment, the tension of the spring should be greater than the gravity of the steel wire and steel disc and the impact force of the raw material on the steel disc, so that the adjusting rod is in a horizontal state and will not contact with the limit switch.

The working principle of the device is as follows: When the material layer increases to a certain height, the weight of the material pressed on the steel disc plus the gravity of the steel disc and the steel wire rope are greater than the tension of the spring, the regulating rod rotates clockwise with the hinge support as the fulcrum. The terminal head touches the limit switch and the electrical signal is transmitted to DCS. The interlocking plate feeding machine stops until the quantitative feeder gradually digests the material layer at the feeding mouth. The tension of the spring makes the adjusting rod reset, and the plate feeding machine automatically opens the feeding.

The installation difficulty of the device lies in the adjustment of the depth of the wire rope extension mouth and the spring tension, which should be subject to constant material without overflowing. The steel disc is too close to the apron feeder, and the plate feeding machine will stop if there is a little thickness of the material layer, which affects the normal feeding;  It is too high and can not play the role of overflow prevention. The same is true if the spring tension is too high or too low. Accordingly, when adjusting, want to undertake patiently repeatedly, cooperate mutually, ability achieves expected result. After three months of trial operation, the effect of the device is very obvious. It was also successfully installed and used on the other 7 board feeders, so the post was cancelled. This device has the advantages of simple manufacturing method, low cost and good effect.
