Conveyor belts of pipe belt conveyors were developed by Bridgestone Tire Company. It is similar to an ordinary conveyor belt, but it also uses some important technologies in its design. The pipe belt conveyor’s conveyor belt is manufactured by Japan's Bridgestone and its authorized companies.
Due to the rigid and flexible requirements, the special skeletal structure must be used. The conveyor belt must be rigid so as to form and maintain a circular tube shape as it passes through the roller set. At the same time, it must also have a certain degree of flexibility, to ensure that the conveyor belt can pass through the transition section, through the feed section in the line rolled into a circular tubular operation and plane through the roller discharge. This can be satisfied by adding a rubber layer between the fabric layers of the conveyor belt.
In order to ensure that the lap joint is well sealed to prevent material leakage, the rigidity of the conveyor belt edge is reduced. Further, it is necessary to control the thickness of the upper and lower adhesive layers and the number of vulcanizations, and to increase the ability of the conveyor belt to naturally tend toward a circular tubular shape.

For long-distance belt conveyors, the conveyor belt can also use a steel rope core structure. At this time, a layer of transverse fabric is laid on each of the upper and lower ropes. Just like the fabric core conveyor belt structure, there is also a layer of rubber between the fabric and the wire rope.
For emergency repairs, metal fittings can be used temporarily or replaced by ordinary conveyor belts until long-term maintenance is possible. Ordinary conveyor belts do not have the required rigidity and flexibility, as a result will produce permanent core delamination, fatigue, or other unpredictable problems. However, the advantages of ordinary conveyor belts are simple structure, low manufacturing cost, low price, and sometimes can also be used as a substitute for round pipe conveyor belts. On a universal belt conveyor, the service life of the pipe belt conveyor’s conveyor belt and the ordinary conveyor belt is virtually the same.
The cleaning device for round tube conveyor belts is the same as that used in general belt conveyors. Both single and multi-blade belt sweepers and rotary and blank sweepers can be used.
Pipe belt conveyor’s belts can be specially manufactured to transport hot material. The standard specification conveyor belt can be used at temperatures up to 60°C (140°F). Both types of hot material conveyors allow temperatures up to 110°C (230°F) and 160°C (320°F). When selecting the conveyor belt, special consideration must be given to the particle size of the material and the surface temperature of the conveyor belt. A very hot conveyor belt surface can have a significant effect on the life of the conveyor belt.
